Hers & His Scarf Set

I was recently asked to donate something handmade for my favorite 2 1/2 year old Owen's school auction. After much debate, I decided on a His & Hers Scarf Set in my favorite chunky alpaca yarn. I completed the packaging with some new tags that will be tucked into the ends of the scarves for some shameless advertising.

Here is how to make my favorite scarf:
This scarf is made in a seed stitch.
Gauge: On size 15 needles 2 stitches = 1 inch
Cast on 13 stitches (or any odd # of stitches)
Row 1: Knit 1, Purl 1, Repeat to end of row
Row 2: Repeat Row 1

happy knitting and happy new year!

Patterns of Autumn

A new knitting project I started yesterday. A scarf in a seed stitch.

Happy Autumn...

A completed pair!

It may have taken me until the very last day I was in Japan (finishing the thumb on the limousine bus on the way to Narita Airport), but my mittens were completed! And MacAroni got a kabuki tattoo.

summer and fall vacation

I`ve retreated to my secret lair deep in a secret cave in the pacific ocean, where I am preparing for winter by knitting mittens.
Actually, I don`t have a secret cave. I have left the farm in Elma, and I am in Japan until November. Hope to post my creations more regularly.

Happy Knitting!

Something non-square.

So... these aren't exactly socks, but I'm glad to announce the completion of a non-square project.

The original pattern didn't have tassels with pom poms, but I'm convinced pom poms make just about anything better.

Another one.

I made this scarf while commuting to and from work during the week before Christmas:

Again, I used the seed stitch but this time in a really great orange.
It is fun working with quality materials.
I loved this wool so much I made a second orange scarf during my flight to WA.

Big yarn, big needles: fast knitting.

Speaking of fast; I-5.

Some more knitted goodies.

The cold weather is one of my biggest motivations for completing my knitting projects. 32 degrees? Yuck; and it will only get colder.

Well, to be honest, another motivation is having the biggest deadline of them all just around the corner: Christmas. YIKES!

I made this headband and scarf set today using the same wool as my other earwarmer/headband. Instead of the garter stitch, I used a seed stitch.

I think the texture of the seed stitch is very nice. Of course the pom-poms still need to be added to the earwarmers before they're completed, but over all... not bad for a day's work.

Stay warm, and happy knitting!

A Demand for Knitted Headbands.

My knitted headband will keep you and your loved ones' ears warm.

How cute are the pom poms?

Today was the first wintery day in NYC.
Yes, yesterday was cold and windy~
...but today....
*It snowed*
